Meet and Greet: Adrian Boyes, Director - as featured in the July Issue of Classic & Sports Car Magazine.

How long have you been in business?

I started Classic Additions after I inherited my grandad’s Triumph TR5 and couldn’t find a suitable breathable indoor car cover for it. That was in 1989, so this year we have been in business for 35 years.

What’s your specialism?

We offer a comprehensive range of high-quality indoor and outdoor car covers. These are from the standard range we keep in stock, or bespoke covers handmade to order.

What’s the best car you’ve ever owned?

My Porsche 911 (993) Cabriolet, because I’ve had it for a long time and it is a great all-round sports car. But the car I’d never part with is my grandfather’s old TR5.

And the worst?

Perhaps not the worst, but definitely the most disappointing was my B5 Audi RS4. It looked great, but it just wasn’t what it promised to be.

What’s your dream drive?

One of the drives I always enjoy isn’t far from where we are based in North Wales: the B-road run from Ffestiniog to Pen-Y-Bont-Fawr.

What’s your favourite classic event?

Goodwood Members’ Meeting. The atmosphere, the people, the racing and the evening entertainment are the best.

How’s business?

All small businesses face their own challenges, but it’s been steady in the current climate. After 35 years, we remain a small, family-run company and continue to strive to be the best at what we do. We feel confident that cars will continue to need protecting, whether they are kept indoors or outdoors. Fabrics have changed considerably over the years, and we are constantly looking to source the best materials for all situations.

What are your other hobbies?

I enjoy skiing, both on snow and on water, as well as cycling at the weekends.

Not many people know this, but when I was 17 I worked as a sales rep for a company in the USA selling hubcaps!
